Local Motors SketchOver Tutorial with uMake by Aurelien Francois

Aurelien Francois, (Aurel) design manager at Local Motors and also an early uMake beta tester has put together an outstanding SketchOver tutorial covering the use of uMake in the design process of a beautiful sedan created by Local Motors community member Teodor Nastase. Aurel is no stranger to uMake as he used uMake heavily in the development of Local Motors second 3D printed car which was unveiled in November 2015. With this latest project Aurel is now sharing some of his mastery of uMake with the world. [caption id="" align="alignnone" width="1024"]

The original design by Teodor Nastase[/caption] Local Motors SketchOvers allow community members to post designs they would like to see improved and from these designs the LM design team creates tutorials demonstrating techniques or new software uses/ integrations int the design process. For those looking to learn great techniques for car design, you should check out the other 8 SketchOvers Local Motors has posted to date.

In Local Motors 9th SketchOver, Aurel walks through through the various steps of setting up a design for uMake, creating reference images, creating curves, editing curves, and mirroring the design. It's an incredibly thorough tutorial and we are very thankful to Aurel and Local Motors for such a nice post. We highly recommend taking a look for yourself over on Local Motors! It is well worth the time!
