If you sketch a closed shape in uMake, by default, it will be auto-surfaced. This video shows you what this means, how it works, and how you can turn this function on or off.

uMake has the ability to automatically generate
surfaces between a connected closed group
of curves that are on the same plane.
We call this ‘Auto-Surfacing’ and it is
on by default when you first start using uMake.
You can toggle this option on or off from
the settings menu located in the side panel.
To use Auto surfacing, simply draw a flat,
 closed shape.
As long as all the edge curves are on the
same plane, uMake will generate a surface.
Try drawing some closed shapes to get a feel
 for how auto surfacing functions.
