Want to make a complex surface along a path? This is where the ‘Extrude along path’ tool comes in. This video shows you how to create surfaces extruded along a path in uMake.
Transcript:
0:00:00.240,0:00:05.170 The extrude along path function lets you create complex surfaces along a specified path 0:00:05.170,0:00:06.359 in uMake. 0:00:06.359,0:00:11.240 This differs in that you are not creating extrusions along a straight line, but instead 0:00:11.240,0:00:15.230 creating extrusions along another curve, which we call a path. 0:00:15.230,0:00:20.269 To extrude along a path you will first need at least two curves. 0:00:20.269,0:00:24.609 One curve will be the path, or the direction that you want to extrude along. 0:00:24.609,0:00:30.990 The other curve will be the profile curve, or the shape of the surface you want to create. 0:00:30.990,0:00:33.540 Lets create a curvy tube. 0:00:33.540,0:00:36.730 This curve will be our path. 0:00:36.730,0:00:40.950 This curve - the circle, is the profile curve. 0:00:40.950,0:00:46.030 Select both curves and then tap ‘Extrude’. 0:00:46.030,0:00:50.940 Next tap the option for ‘Along Path’. 0:00:50.940,0:00:55.980 You will notice a yellow handle appear which you will use to create the extrusion. 0:00:55.980,0:01:01.640 It should be on the path curve and you can use this to extrude along the path. 0:01:01.640,0:01:06.930 Drag this handle along the path and you will see the extrusion is created. 0:01:06.930,0:01:12.929 If for any reason the profile curve and path are switched, you can ’switch shapes’ 0:01:12.929,0:01:14.380 in the side menu. 0:01:14.380,0:01:20.540 You will also notice an option for showing the extrusion as a wireframe as you create it. 0:01:20.540,0:01:24.380 Once you are done extruding a surface along a path, tap the green check mark 0:01:24.380,0:01:25.860 to the exit tool.
